Can anyone remember shuggy boats ? (swings on the beach)

Can anyone remember Spending their bus fare in the amusements and having to walk home?

My age is four score and ten plus four and i am proud of it. i remember being on munitions!

The shuggy boats were on our beach in whitley Bay in the North East. Perhaps no one else had them. We had punch and judy show tent as well!

i remember them!! we used to sit in and pull the ropes to make them swing!! walk home????everysingle day,drunk on vermouth ,costing 20 p a bottle,singing at 02 in the morning.....we were only about 11 0r 12.....years old that is!!!30 something years later I still kept the habit,always jump through the fence in the park and go to the swings....and still drink rubbish.haha

Yes I remember walking home after spending all my money at the Amusement park.!!!

I remember going on the Swing Boats at the Kursaal in Southend. It used to be a great amusement park/fairground.
It had a great dance hall, my mum and dad met there;as did many others of their generation.
It wasn't on the beach but a few hundred yards from it.
I used to see bands there when i was in my teens; had to walk home many a time....and was grounded!

I spent my bus fare on sweets and then had to walk three miles home. That's the way it was one or the other not both.

Yes, but we called them swing boats. Ah, those were the days.

i used to spend my bus money or lunch money on paddle pops to get a free one when they have competitions on the sticks.My boys are doing it now,and stickers or cards.Then i dreaded the walk home..cheers
