Interspecific competition is when two species are competing for the same resource(s) in the same location.

Possible consequences:
1) Competitive Exclusion: one species will out-compete the other. The "losing" species will decline in population.
2) Niche Differentiation: The species will eventually exploit the resource in different ways so as not to no longer directly compete.
3) Local Extinction: one species becomes extinct in the location where competition occurs.
4) Coexistence: Most biologists believe that this is an unstable circumstance and coexistence can not continue long term.
