I'm having trouble with Archie as a given name. If you don't like the name Archibald, you could use Archer for a given name. It's like naming a child Mikey or Angie instead of Michael or Angela; it just seems silly.
How about:
Archer Thomas
Archer Zachary
Archer William
Archer George
Archer Cameron
Archer Michael
Archer Kenneth
Archer Daniel
Archer Vincent
Archer Quinn
Archer Quenton
Archer James
Archer Joseph
Archer Noah
Archer Aaron
Archer Paul

Archie Paul
Archie Cameron
Archie Finlay
Archie Donald
Archie Alexander
Archie Scott
Just a few suggestions, It would be great if you could post up what you eventually decide, because Archie is quite an unusual name for this day and age, and it is such a strong name too.

What about Gabriel?
I guess also that it all depends what your surname is too. Initials can be really important - as in don't choose Robert for a middle name if your surname begins with 'S'!
Archie is a really cute name but I must confess it is a particularly sore point for me at the moment as my eldest daughter is seriously considering it for her baby (expected in Febraury). I am sure that the jokes of being named 'Archie Bishop' (I swear this is for real) will wear thin long before he hits the horrors of enduring it as a teenager.
But then as my daughter ribs me how can I talk when my son is now known soley by his initials - 'Tog(s)' aka Toggy - he wears it well :o) and guess what the 'G' is for?
Initials that say something are cute. We have a GEMS too and an RSS who hasn't forgiven us for what seemed ok initials to us but kids can be cruel so choose carefully would be my advise!

Consider Archer Charles with Archie being the nickname. Archer Red or Reed or Rory.
