The stellar temperatures are measured relative to the earth in terms of the radiation received from a star at a particular location in the Universe. The measurement of temperature is inversely proportional to the wavelength of the radiation.

The stellar spectra is a radiation plot which indicates the signature of each elements of mass structure present inside the Star. Therefore by examining the stellar radiation it eneables Cosmologists to determine what kind of atomic mass structures exist in a particular Star.
