whats a good apartment to live in for around 900-1000 a month close to lvmpd's police academy. dont want a long drive?

I live in Vegas but I don't know where the Metro training place is, sorry. If you're looking to spend $900-$1000 per month for a one bedroom, you're probably going to end up on the east side of town or North Las Vegas. The rents for apartments have sky-rocketed in the past few months. I signed my lease in Mar 07 and pay $795 for a one-bedroom, but now that same one-bedroom goes for $955. Its crazy. I live on the SW side of town, in the cheapest apartment I could find and its old. Older appliances and windows and stuff. Try to talk to people who live here before you pick which complex to live in. The property managers and companies are some of the best at deception when it comes to renting thier properties out. BTW - there are a lot of houses that you can rent for that kind of money (something to keep in mind...).
