I am thinking of joining a political party, and what I would like to know is what sort of things I would be expected to do and how much time I would need to devote to it. Any help appreciated, thanks.

Being in a political party is more of a "classification" than something you do. If you usually agree with the viewpoints of politicians in a certain party and their legislation, you might consider yourself part of that party. That is all it involves. You don't need to do anything, you can even vote for members of a different party if you want.

If you mean that you are volunteering for a campaign, that involves as little time as you allow. You can volunteer to call voters on voting day reminding them to vote, you can pass out flier...it is up to you.

You may want to contribute money, which is entirely your choice how much. You could attend benefit dinners or rallies where you pay a set fee to get in and hear the speech/give support.

The most important thing for everybody is to be informed and vote!!! Don't let a select few make the decisions for the rest of us and don't go into the polls blind...take a few minutes and read up on the issues and go vote.

Some people do nothing but vote, if you are referring to working for a political party then there are to many jobs to list.

Vote, perhaps campaign for your choice, participate in your parties caucus after your states primary. A few hours to many days.

Being in a party doesn't obligate you to change anything in your life at all.... the only real perk to it (if you aren't running for office) is that you get to vote in their primary and have a reason to ***** and moan a lot.

Promote the values OF that party. Simple enough.
