i think it's pretty awesome. L's voice is just spectacular. i remember watching the trailer, i got chills and the hair on my neck stood up when i heard him! Light's voice has grown on me but the Japanese voice is still better, it's more arrogant and evil. i thought everyone else sounded right. i can't wait to hear the other characters, especially Mello and Near.

When I watched the commercials, the only thing that bothered me was the texture of the voices. I got used to Light, although it's too high for me. I'm glad he still cackles. But L seems too low and serious.
The translating was GREAT. I was afraid they were going to call Light "Gaito" and called the shinigami "reapers". I have no problem with that.
It's just the voices from the japanese anime fit the characters so well, and the American characters, well, lack.

Nope, I do not like dubbed animes at all.
I used to only watch those but to watch all of the new Bleach episodes I had to watch them in Japanese and found that I prefer watching them subbed, the Japanese voice actors put a lot more feeling into the characters and are a lot more believable.

The dub thus far has been exceptional in my opinion. Still, I would say the sub is better (as usual), but I don't think you lose too much watching the dub. Light's voice is different, but I think it could grow on me. I like Ryuk's voice better than the Japanese voice, but I will miss his laugh. L's voice was also perfectly casted. The only one I don't like so far is Light's father. It just doesn't feel right to me.
That's my opinion thus far, but let's see how they do the other voices (especially Misa).

Just a little bit. I watched the sub version and there's a lot more feeling; in example, Light - in Japanese - sounds more sinister than he does in the English version.
