My first thought.....DUMP HIM.
Even if he is sometimes right(maybe your mom does do some dumb things) that doesn't justify it. Everyone uses name calling from time to time but there comes a point where enough is enough. If you are asking strangers on Yahoo! what they think than it has gone too far.
Also, if he calls your mother this imagine how he will handle himself around your future children. What words do you think he will use when your son comes in 3rd place or your daughter can only get C's in school? LOSER, STUPID, ETC.
If he is a REAL, MATURE man he should know when to use appropriate words and how to use them effectively.
Move on, GIRL POWER!!!

Walk away, leave, break it off, and go find yourself a respectable man. Not only is he disrespecting your mother, he is disrespecting you. And if he cared about you, he wouldn't call your mother, or anyone you loved, derogatory names, upsetting you like that. No matter what he thinks of your mother, he should be mature enough to know what "respect" means, and keep his mouth shut.

Such disrespect is probably a habit. Unless the mother in question is a horrible person that tortures puppies for fun and such, there's no room for that kind of person in my life

I would see it as real sign of our future to be and try to get the heck out of there. There is never a good reason for people in relationships (man or female) to verbally hurt each other or their families.

I would very seriously wonder about his self worth and his relationship with his mother and then move on, he'll get to you eventually, maybe he's seeing how far he can go to control you, and setting up for a very negative future with you

Well, maybe he feels the need to call someone else what he knows HE personally is . . . If he dared to call anybody I love "stupid", let's just say that he wouldn't be alive anymore :)

I would wait til he was asleep, then beat him with a rolling pin, and when he woke up I 'd tell him mother hear him and If he knew what was good for him, he'd keep his mouth shut.

Most women would be horribly offended. I'd be one of them. Call his mother the same and then dump him.
