What a fabulous idea!!! I would buy at least 3 copies at this point! I think a lot of teens out there are really in need of a book like this!! I cannot believe it's not already out there to tell you the truth! Go for it! Remember... do not be discouraged!!!! You are doing something positive and helpful!!! Thanks!!!

Communication and sharing is everything. I think it's a good idea, especially since I grew up in an age where suppression was the accepted approach, with all of my loved ones trying to convince me I was a freak and unique in all the world, and I'd better change or else be left behind. I've corresponded with straight teens all over the world who are sure there are no gay teens in their school or neighborhood, and know how horrible it must be for those who ARE gay who are all around them but have to live a life of invisibility, oppression and suppression.

But having said that, I'm not sure what stories there are that would be uplifting to gay/lesbian/transgendered teens in the usual sprit of the Chicken Soup series.

A book like that would really help a lot of us out. I can tell you right now that it can be really awful if you live in an area where being gay or lesbian isn't very common and feeling like you're going through this change alone. The book would be a constant reminder for those of us going through this that there are others who felt like we did, and that they eventually got through it. It could broaden the perspective of straight people trying to understand. It'd do a lot of good. You know what. No one ever got anything done without rattling a few chains. Look at Martin Luther King Junior. Not everyone is going to approve of what you're doing. But you really shouldn't let that stop you.

I think the idea is great!... although it might help "sell" the idea if you mask the intent slightly... ( not to take anything away from it ) ... something like "chicken soup for the questioning teen"... or "chicken soup for the teen that doesn't fit in"... that way a teen wouldn't be AS embarrassed to walk out of the store with it... and it could cover all aspects of sexuality and gender identity... even straight boys who happen to be effeminate... or straight girls who are tom boys... all the way to the boy who's fallen in love with his straight best friend and still identifies as straight... stuff like that.... but I'd LOVE to see some help for the confused teen like that.... and I say "confused" because those are usually the kids that need the most help... the ones who already identify as gay are implicitly more secure to begin with....

Perfect !!! I can't speak for all the LGBT community, but I'm sure it will be a big success. If you haven't come up with a rough draft, I'm sure it won't be hard to find personal stories from this website. If you need any help with words of encouragement, please don't hesitate to get in contact with me! Good luck in your endeavor.

I would love a book like that, but I fear that the publishers might not accept it since they tend to publish Christian, military, and more mainstream right-wing things

What is it made from gay chickens or may be genital shaped chicken pieces. I believe that gay folks eat the same chicken soup the rest of the world eats

That would be a lovely book addition to that series. They should have had it long before now. I think you should go ahead with it.
