I prefer cosmic slop by George Clinton and Funkadelic.

As for cosmic soup ... does it have a particular definition or is it just slang?
I think it can mean 'a medium from which stars coalesce', but such media can take several forms.

The cosmic soup that arose shortly after the birth of the universe is long gone, but cosmic soup molecular clouds from which stars will develop are common place.
