He is a piece of sh*t! He is a money hungry, self centered jacka*s! Hank Steinbroner is right in saying he doesnt want anybody on the team that doesnt want to be a Yankee! I dont think any player is worth 30 mil a year!! The Yankees even attempted giving him an ext of 5yr 150mil and he didnt even entertain the idea. His agent Scott Boras is also a hungry money pos!

The timing of the announcement during the World Series when the Red Sox were on the verge of winning is only the latest example of the enormous amount of selfishness this guy possesses. Whether it was A-Rod himself, the agent, or both, who chose to make the announcement at that time, it was a blatant attempt to take some of the focus away from the Red Sox 2nd. World Series Title in 4 years. Being that so many people were watching the game, it was the perfect opportunity to shift the attention to him. After all, it's all about A-Rod and his money.

With the Yankees opting out of negotiations and the Red Sox having won the WS...that pretty much takes out the 2 most viable teams in contention for A-Rod. It'll be interesting to see what he gets in the free agent market.

While it is a business he was incredibly dishonest in saying how he wanted to end his career as a Yankee and he "loves" New York.

In the end, he's replaceable. The Yankees won their championships w/out A-Rod and there's no saying they cannot do it again.

A-rod is a total d!ck. The only good thing in this whole thing is that I think the Rangers are off the hook for a portion of his salary, if I understood that correctly.

Does he really think he can get more money than he is currently making? I hope no one signs him, and he has to sit out of baseball for a long time.

Where else can a guy, if he plays all 162, and gets to the plate an average of 4 times a game, make $38,500.00+ per plate appearance? And he still wants more? Ridiculous.

I am a Yankee fan, born and raised in The Bronx. If I were A-Rod, I would do the same thing. He has been booed and treated like a stepchild by Yankee fans for four years. Now he has put an MVP season and is telling fans to kiss his a-rod.Does this make him a bit of a spiteful dick? Absolutely. But I would have done the same.

First of all, if you don't think he did much for the Yankees, you obviously don't watch baseball.

I think it is hilarious that he opted out, because now the Yankees are refusing to negotiate a contract. Now, no other team will be able to afford him unless they put themselves in a situation like the Rangers did when they gave him that contract. That situation would be the inability to sign anyone else good because so much money is wrapped up in one contract.

you gotta be kidding me yankees fans have no one to blame but them selves nothing was ever good enough for u. all u did was boo and boo. he never felt at home in new york. if you remeberber when he played for seattle they loved him and he tore the cover off the ball in the postseason for the mariners. as for yankees fans being mad OH GIVE ME A BREAK U BROUGHT IT ON YOURSELF.

Anyone in his shoes would have done the same thing, he will get more money and not have to put up with being booed after hitting 54 homers in a season.

Didn't -- do -- much -- for -- the -- Yankees.

Okay, then. But why mad? Shoot, you were one of those booing at him, weren't you, when he had one of his mediocre years. You know, the kind that any Hall of Famer would have liked to be able to add to his stats.

You don't deserve Alex Rodriguez. Heck, you should learn a little about baseball, too. Didn't do much? Jesus wouldn't be able to satisfy people like you.

A-Rod has proven that he is only about the money and not the game.
