I found it very hard to walk away from. I am usually about an hour and a half early for work. Watching this movie made me come on time. What the hey?

...the film has definitely garnished some greater appreciation, since it's initial release...or should I say releases, as Warner Bros. pulled the film several times from the theaters, so that director John Boorman could re-edit and restructure it...

...I really have to admit, I thought it was a real stinker of a film, when I first it, as compared to director William Friedkin's classic original; Richard Burton's excruciatingly wooden performance was a particular stand out, and being that Boorman is a wildly visual director, it seems that the viewer, often times, was bombarded by rampant and confusing imagery; however, upon revisiting the film now and then, I have since come to appreciate what Boorman was trying to depict. In the final analysis, I guess the film finally 'grew' on me...

...anyways, director Boorman DID redeem himself, a few years later, with his strikingly erotic & dark medieval epic, "Excalibur"...

It had its good moments though I found the original far better, but I still have all three movies.
