One of my two fish is bullying the other. I never see it eat, it spends it's whole time in the corner behind the filter. It can swim and everything, but every time it ventures out the other one chases it furiously.

It has 3 black spots, which I think is stress related. The water temperature is fine, as are the levels of nitrites, nitrates and ammonia.

They're both mollies.

They're in a 28L tank which will soon be a community fish - these were my first ones.

Should I introduce some more fish? Does it matter whether it's another molly or not?

Or shall I attempt to separate the tank into two, and if so with what?

I'm getting worried as the fish is getting thin.

The bullied fish is definately male, but the bullying fish appeared to be a female for a few weeks, then seemed to change?

If both fish are males, I don't think the answer is more females. I don't want molly babies!

Don't lose a lot of sleep over this. Go ahead and put some more fish in and see if won't work out. Try a school of zebra danios. They'll keep ever other fish moving. Dividing your tank will ruin the aesthetics and a second tank for a dollar fish isn't vet practical.

Try getting a couple more males. This should help keep the one from gettin picked on so much. Guppies could also be helpful. In this size a tank, you really don't have room for many more fish. Especially since some types of mollies can grow to 4" or more (max about 6"). No more than 3-4 more small fish, like guppies or platies.

I would seperate the fish. You could construct a divison for your tank out of a thin wire that will let water through, but not the other fish...I would also suggest not putting other fish with it

The pushy fish is obviously male,if the other one is female, the answer is more females. Come to think of it, no matter what the sex of the other fish, the answer is more females.
