2nd degree rape means: He had sex with someone under 14 years of age or he had sex with someone who is mentally incapacitated (like drugged maybe)

3rd degree sodomy means: He sodomized someone who is mentally retarded (which may actually what the one from the 2nd degree rape means). Sodomized somone under 16 years of age. Also may mean he sodomized someone while being in a position of power over them (such as work).

Who knows girl... Could be a pedophile, could have raped and sodomized someone where he worked. He doesn't work at a hospital or school does he? Of course, he probably wouldn't be allowed to do that any more anyway.

Maybe if we could have a link to the information you read as to what they are someone could help you better

2nd degree rape is "probably" sexual penetration.

Sodomy refers to all sexual acts that does not include intercourse. so 3rd degree sodomy probably refers to what type was done..

The degrees refers to what type of act it was whether to an adult or to children.

rape is having unwilling sex with another person and sodomy is having anal sex. the degree of which they have been charged is usually due to "deals" the offender makes with the prosecutor. none the less though... your neighbor has forced someone to have sex with him and he also went up their rear end forcefully. i would put my house on the market... my children are much more important than the love of my home. and if the offender lives that close to you.. the neighborhood isn't as safe as you originally thought... change your mind about how you feel about your home... had you known this rapist lived there before you bought the house, would you have still bought?
the degree of how bad it is shouldn't make a difference to you... there is no such thing as a little bit raped or a little bit sodomized

It irrelevant what the degree's mean, what is important is that these disgusting people hurt children, I too Live in Kansas and I'm sure to do a search quite often. Make sure you watch your children closely when playing outside anywhere that's where a high percentage of abuse happen they get lured away while outside playing or at parks.

This is merely guesswork here, but I'd imagine 2nd degree rape is less violent and forced, like something that started off consensual but the guy didn't take no for an answer later on.
3rd degree sodomy could likely mean that he stuck an object (other than his phallus) in some1's anus...

First thing, talk to your children, explain that even family members may touch them in wrong ways, and if anybody ever touches them in a wrongful way to be sure to tell you. Let them know its ok to talk to you bout this. Also inform your children counsler at school, so therefore she may have some helpful #'s that could you help you. If he has broken any of the rules call his probation officer to let them know. Also check into lawyer for your kids sake that will stand and understand your thoughts.

Sometimes the courts let these people plea bargain their sentence down by giving them degrees.
A conviction of any degree is a conviction.
Always watch over your children, many sex offenders are never caught and they are everywhere.
