it was more like 450 yrs.... and they still don't admit they were wrong....they dont apologize, they didn't give the land reparations they promised to give, they conhtinued to deny the rights of the blacks for a long time having an apartheid system until 40 years ago, and it still effects how people live today... and even now they still have some white scientist writing books, articles adn giving speeches saying blacks are mentally inferior... etc etc...

it's sad and like the other answerer said... slavery still continues today..... all over the world young girls are kidnapped daily and shipped to other parts of the world to work as sex slaves,

children and woman in Saipan and other parts of Asia forced to work in factories for Nike adn other shoe companies for more than 16 hours a day and paid $1 a day if at all....

migrant farm workers paid nothing and workign without rights and fear or deportation or jail in the USA....

african girls sold to arabs and forced to work as prostitutes in Qatar, Dubai, Saudi Arabia... etc etc...

If we could all focus one days worth of work on this issue we could irradicate the enslavement of people on this earth...but racism, class structures and greed are more powerful forces than love, charity and equality I guess

Africa, korea china etc still sell their own people and children for money, labor, and sex....no one has really learned. Animals are still used for clothing, labor and entertainment. Why havent we learned that is wrong either?

Think back in those days when outsiders and people of other races were known as savages to the more civilized cultures. If I discovered your land and you sold me your daughter as a servant or gave her to me as a gift then Im sure I would take it. (at that time) I dont think people realized slavery was wrong especially in the US, I think that the North needed a plan to finally bring down the South and the best way to do it was to threaten to free their slaves since slaves were the backbone of the entire wealth of the South. - You just have think like they did and we still have that mentality when it comes to accepting new things and distingushing the worht of life

The people who slaved the blacks never admitted they were wrong to do so. Others passed laws to make them stop is all.

It took mankind much longer than that to realize it was wrong. Slavery has been going on for a very long time.

English is your 7th language? Perhaps you should perfect your use of it a little more before you start asking written questions.
