I'm looking into online classes and not sure how long this will take. Thanks everyone!

You can do the educational theory online but you'll have to do a student teaching experience somewhere in person.

Which programs are acceptable depends on your state. It's very possible that you could follow an "alternative route to certification" and be employed as a teacher while you earn your certificate, especially if art is a demand certification in your state.

The other alternative is a Master of Arts in Teaching which should take about 18 months (including the student teaching). Finding an MAT for certification online in Art (preK-12) is going to be a bit of a challenge.

You want to make sure you know the teacher certification rules in your state before you pick a program. What works in Georgia may not work in Nevada for example.

Add: Take a look at the offerings at East Carolina University in NC. Their education school has a pretty solid offering of licensure programs and MAT degrees that can be completed either all online or substantially online.
