You could look at how the Romans looked at virginity before Xianity and after Xianity.

Could do same comparing the Greeks, Romans, and the Celts with each other.

Really, pick any two cultures and compare would be interesting; esp if it is already known well for one- but not the other.

You could look at the Italians in the Renaissance and Modern day even.

You could also look into how the value of female virginity could completely disappear with DNA testing, as it is no longer a way for males to "ensure" offspring is actually theirs.
