I have a garden vac and to be honest its a bit of a pain as it wont lift wet leaves and when it does lift leaves, the bag fills up very quickly. Also, the vac is very heavy and hurts my shoulder after using it for a while. I will rake leaves off the lawn or tarmac but it is a nusance to rake them off stones or flowerbeds with mulch or compost. Do you think a leaf blower would be any better for this - to blow the leaves into one area where they can be easily lifted? Can you advise please?

Your garden vacuum should have a reverse switch that blows. Read the directions on leaflet that came with it.

The best way to lift leaves on a lawn or indeed on a path is to use the lawn mower with the blades raised high.
Don't repeat my mistake and buy a ride on mower thinking this was the answer because it was an awful decision.
The exhaust was at the front which meant I kept blowing the leaves in all directions and did not lift any.
The best solution is to get a blow/vac machine..

Easy solution... if you have a mower cut them and blow them around. They make good compost for your lawn. Just don't cut so short as to keep cutting the grass.
