I wonder what will you think of a 21 years old Asian girl, who is attending Ph.D program in a quite good school in the US, getting married to a 40 years old up-middle class white man? They do love each other very much.

He had better have retirement savings. Or she'll take the burden. Men don't live as long either, so she needs to be prepared. Otherwise, they'll need a strong relationship. And who cares, as long as they are happy?

Love is spiritual and physical, and they both seem to have a connection. He's very much 20 years her senior. But, there's an old slogan that says age is just a number. Well, if they're in love, then just let it be.

the age should not matter at all but I would think a long engagement might be a good idea until she finishes school because sometimes a person changes as they go from student to someone working in the field they have gone to school for. One study showed something like over 80% failure rate in marriages in the fields of law and medicine if a couple were married when one of them was still in school.
Other than that there is no reason not to marry simply because of the age difference.

It may be ok for now , but when he is 60 and slowing down in life she will only be 40 and still want to live the young life the marriage will fall apart. I have seen it happen to my friends.

OK?

Who cares? Your of legal age and so is he, so does it really matter what anyone else thinks?
Also I don't see what your race or the school program you're attending has anything to do with the age factor...but ok.

I should say "hell no" because my husband who is 43 left me for a girl who was 21 but I still think "why not"-love is love.

I quit trying to please the world a long time ago. Women mature faster than men and I would think that by now his wild oats have been sown and he is ready to settle down and be a good husband.

He can her father. Kind of gross if you ask me. When the 21 year old is 40 she will be changing his depends at 60 instead of actually doing something with that phd of hers.

Nothing there for me to think about other than "lucky guy." Of course, I'm not real big on sitting in judgement of others' actions.
