It's an Athlon 2.2 Ghz dual processor with 1024 GB RAM and a Radeon X1650 graphics card. The guy at the computer shop assured me it would run my sims 2 and settlers games. So far so good, but the sims is still a bit slow. At least it doesn't crash anymore. BTW, getting to grips with Vista was quite an ordeal and reloading all my software like giving birth to a new baby. But it's just about done!

Hi, no don't listen to what some of the people here r telling u. Your computer is really nice but just upgrade the ream to 2 gb. Also perform some security scans on ur computer and defragment ur hard disk to speed up ur pc. I hope I helped, and u will be able to play new games like Crysis.
Good Luck and take care!

A rule of thumb says that computing power doubles every ten years. I actually have a better system than you do and I find that some games run slow and graphics-intensive apps like Flight Simulator X are hopelessly slow. For serious gaming these days you need a dual-core processor (two CPU's) and as much memory as you can cram into the thing (2 gigs would be a good start). You also need a high-end graphics card with at least 512 mb and over-clocking capability with thermal protection. Also look at the bus speed. Mine is 133 mhz and that can be a bottleneck.

i believe it is a Athlon (without any suffix like XP, 64, 64x2 or FX)... if yes, then to be frank, yes u can play games, but dun expect it to be fast

ur X1650 is quite a decent card, and coupled with 1GB of ram, everything looks good excet for ur CPU... it is the bottleneck in ur system, it is slow as compared to all the Athlon64 and Core 2 running around today

if it is a AthlonXP, u can still play games with it for a while, but not for very long

if it is Athlon64 or 64x2, then it will be able to handle most of the games in the market

if it is Athlon64-FX, well, ur machine will last u quite long before an upgrade is required, though increasing ur RAM to 2GB will make it much better

I'm not familiar with the processor so I'm not sure there.
But you should upgrade your RAM if you want faster gaming. Sims 2 on Vista requires a minimum of 1GB and it's always best to exceed the minimum.
The graphics card should be okay.

It will be fine. Do listen to those fools. It wont run any of the new stuff but it should be fine for what you listed. Just dont expect to run Crysis or Hellgate: London on it.

On the very basic info you've provided it looks to me like you could sure use a total of 2GB of RAM.
