in politics, intelligence refers to a source of information (no kidding). for instance, the US government learned of the existence of nuclear plants in North Korea through intelligence reports. it's vital for a government to have its intelligence in order for them to know certain facts about its citizens or neighboring countries. sad to say, intelligence were often used negatively...
