I totally agree with ActorMyk. My personal recommendations though would be Spring Awakening, Rent, Wicked & Legally Blonde :-) You can also check out these sites for shows currently on Broadway:

http://www.broadway.com/
http://ibdb.com/

And like another answerer said, don't eliminate off (and off off) broadway from your list.

Have a great time,
Marianne

There are so many great Broadway shows, but some of my favs are: Lion King, Phantom of the Opera, Rent, and Mama Mia.

Check the Broadway listings to see what is playing now and what is getting the best reviews at: www.nyc.com

IF Cats is still running be sure and see it.
IF Oklahoma Is still running you must see this .
You might find some good ones OFF Broadway.
There are so many good ones,it would be hard for me to pick just one,I'd like to see all the good
ones.

There are so many out at the moment, especially with Christmas coming up. Here is a list of all that I think are out at the moment -

Rent
Sound of Music
Joseph (and his Technicolour Dreamcoat)
Mama Mia
Rock You
The Lion King
Blood Brothers (one of my favourites)

There are so many. Have a look on one of the websites and they will be able to tell you what theatres are doing what and when - and also the prices aswell!

ANYTHING! Literally, anything, since New York is the center of the acting industry, you will never see ashow performed better anywhere else. Don't limit yourself to musicals. And try the TKTS booth in Times Square for 50% off of shows that are not selling out

"Rent" is awesome, lots of singing, acting is great, story is believable. AND make sure you go to the "Ticket" booth in the middle of Times Square, you can save up to 50% off the price of your tickets.

High School Musical is the one they are all raving about at the moment? I prefer Miss Saigon though.
