Indexing, whether on your main computer drivers or an external does the following:

It looks over the entire drive partition, within all folders and files and makes a note of everything and where it is.

Sort of like a librarian.

BUT this Micro$oft Librarian sees a new file come in or a file changing and resorts and tries to remember not only the new file but resorts the entire library to make a note of it.

I turn off Indexing on my computer because a few nano seconds is not too much for me to wait instead of having this Librarian on steroids running all the time in my system.
