They don't run on a ticket, they have seperate elections for Governor and Lieutenant Governor. Many states do it that way.

Arnold is a moderate Republican who was duly elected, in a generally liberal state, by a majority of voters who were sick and tired of the previous administration.

Mitt Romney did the same thing, and I personally know two Repulicans who ran on the Democrat ticket because people in their areas see themselves as Democrats even though they are really fairly conservative. One has been an elected and well-liked "Democrat" official for many years.

That is part of California politics. Arnold Swartzenneger also ran as a replacement for Democartic governor, Grey Davis when he was recalled.

They run independently in California. In some states both are on the same ticket similar to the presidential race.

Its just doing the right thing. Sometimes that means following and occasional concept of one side or the other.

By the way its Democrat not democratic. Democratic is a process. Democrat is the proper title. Just a little thing, but it does matter.

Well I am not sure about the first answers But CA recalled their Govenor and Arnold won the election, so all the other people were already in place.
