Detached garage cement block const. built into a bank.
Top of rear wall is just above grade.
Sides are 50% into bank.
Rear wall is cracked & bowing in middle approx 6", starting about half way up, now clearing part of plate & ceiling rafter.
Plan on cutting out & replacing bowed section while supporting roof.
Would appreciate suggestions on how to fill void after teardown, rebuild/ reinforce wall that will resist bowing in future & also minimize seepage.
Garage is about 50 years old , wall always had cracks but bowing has gotten worse last couple of years.
Does not appear to be in danger of collapse
Thanks.

Thanks guys.
Araid you were going to say that.
Trying to save a buck.
How about Hollow block dowelled to slab & sides w/ rebar & filled w/ conc.
Think I could manage that myself w/out calling in a cement truck.
Or do you think that would be cheaper?
No chance of digging out the sides for drainage,
Got the time Email would be appreciated.
Thanks

If you really want it to last, best to pour an 8 inch thick concrete/rebar wall in place of a cement block wall...back fill with coarse crushed rock or river rock 16-24 inches wide and put drain tile tubing with soil sleeve at the bottom- outside of the back wall running around and along the side walls and out each side to prevent hydraulic forces from pushing out the wall again. Just did a 50 X 6 foot retaining wall and garage against a 45 degree slope two years ago.

Paul H is right on the money. You must have unstable soil or some type of moisture problem pushing the wall in. You have to fix this first or it will again push it over even if it is a poured wall. Improperly slope grade and or gutters & downspouts allowing water to run into this area are the usual candidates.
