I´ve heard a lot about Scotland these past few months, and it seems like a wonderful place. Though I´ve never been there, so I can´t be sure what it´s really like.

Would someone be willing to tell me their own personal experiences of the country or the people? Any info / experience would be nice to hear. :)

I'm from Scotland first of all.

You'll find the people warm & welcoming, however, if you come across as trying to be superior to us in any way, ignorant or a buffoon you would soon hear about it (LOL)!

Our culture is known all over the world & in every nation I have ever visited in this world I have been welcomed with open arms.

Scottish symbols include Nessie, Greyfriars Bobby, Tartan, Shortbread, Whisky etc.

We are The Best Small Country in the World.

At New Year time (Hogmanay) people all over the world celebrate by singing "Auld Lang Syne", a Scottish song.

You didn't say where you were from, but i'm sure you'd be warmly welcomed here.

the people are some of the best in the world, will have your back and defend you to the end, but you can also upset them very quickly [without knowing how or why]

Like said above try and have some one you know before you go as being with a local will open doors that will make your trip MUCH better and get to see the real Scots and Scotland like no tour group can do for you.

regards

it's a beautiful place.. truly breath-taking.

try not to go as a tourist; try to have a friend/penpal befortehand, or you'll never really get to meet/interact with the people in a genuine way (that's true of many places).

you'll need wheels to get to the countryside; public transport is limited (some train routes are magicifient, but you can't really stop-and-go as you please).
