Without a proper medical exam and just knowing the facts, what do you think are the chances...

- My bf smokes quite a lot of skunk and so have I, I quit early on last week and don't intend to go back to it,

- I've had an abortion, the baby being 10 weeks,

- My blood type is O -ve so blood passed to me from the baby would result in making me quite ill, and possible rejection of the foetus.

- I didn't have the injection after the abortion so that may put a greater chance of miscarriage on future pregnancies i think.

It really worries me that because of past mistakes I may have ruined my chances for the future so I would appreciate serious answers if you could give them.

Thanks in advance!

Hi,
The first thing i will say is congratulations on giving up the drugs.
Now i wont sit here and type in stuff i believe about abortion as it will do no good. I will try to answer your other questions though.
My daughter in law has the same blood type as you. I know that with any pregnancy, misscariage or abortion there is a special needle you need to get so your body does not reject other pregnancies.
You did not have this needle with the abortion so you might have trouble holding a baby to term. This does not mean you definately will have trouble. Not all pregnancies will even ones ended will have the baby bleed into your blood.
I think the best thind for you to do is this...
Go for a check up at your gynos, tell them about your fears. There are tests they can do. While doing this, you should be eating healthily and not drinking alcohole or taking drugs. The future father should do the same. Take folate just in case you can fall pregnant.
This way you give your body the best possable chance to be healthy. This will give a future baby a good place to grow and be nurished.
Your doctor then can assess you and tell you what else needs to be done to have a healthy baby. I wish you luck in the future..

First off, blood type has nothing to do with your ability to carry a baby. It has to do with rH factors. I have O- blood too. The baby will have his own blood type, the transfer of nutrients happens at the placenta.

IT depends on how much scaring or damage was done with your abortion as to whether or not you can carry a healthy pregnancy.

Otherwise, theres no reason you ought not to have babies.

You said you wanted a serious answer, and in my honest opinion, if a woman has an abortion she doesn't deserve a child. But, since you said it was a "past mistake", I'll give you a decent answer, having said that.

Your blood type isn't going to matter. Neither should having done most types of drugs (dunno what skunk is- not familiar with the termanology). As far as the injection after abortion, I've never heard of that before.

I'd say you have as much of a chance as any woman of getting pregnant (barring the injection). Of course, if you are planning on doing so, you should get a checkup before you start trying to see if the abortion may have made it so that you can't have a child (it happens alot- and I think those women deserve it).

I wouldn't worry about the aboration, most doctors say if you have only had one it will not hurt anything, but more than that is what increases your risks. I would however tell your boyfriend to at least stop smoking until you get pregnant because it could be hard to get pregnant or could effect your pregnancy if he keeps it up.
