I have about an acre of land in Louisiana and I need a clearing company with a dozer to come and clear it off. I've gotten some estimates but there is a huge difference in prices and I don't want to be way overcharged but I don't want to hire someone with a cheap price who is unexperienced. The land has quite a few trees but they are small trees and all the big pines have already been logged off. There is no grass or brush. What would be a reasonable price to pay?

I can't tell you a reasonable cost, but I can suggest that you investigate the references of the people who have given you quotes. Ask each for details about their plans. What equipment do they have, what will they need to get (rent, buy, borrow, etc), how many similar jobs have they done, how will they deal with the brush (burn it, chip it, haul it away?), are they insured for liability?

Take a look at what equipment you do see when they show up. Is their truck fairly new, or is it held together with ductape and good wishes? If they have saws, tools, etc there, are they name brands, or dept. store brands? Is the person missing fingers? (With chainsaws involved, this is a real possibility!)

You're the one paying the bill, you're the one entitled for more information before you make a decision.
