Gypsy is the name used for the traveling people who call themselves Rom.

They have a bad reputation, specially those in towns, as they are known to send their children out begging and, I am not sure how much evidence there is for that, as pick-pockets.

I think that many so called 'Gypsy kids' might be from other groups.

But if you see kids begging, be aware that often there are people near who take your purse and camera out of your bag without you even noticing.
In every busy place you run this risk, and even in quieter places.

So do not keep all your important papers in one place and use a money belt under your clothes for the really important things.
