$1000 a month? what do you live in a 25 room mansion with the windows open?? I have a house built in 1922 in Nassau county with 10 rooms and no insulation as of yet ( purchased last year and will be updating next spring) and it costs me about $400-500) a month in the winter to heat the house.

Bostonianinmo is correct, we need much more information.

If you are heating a new <1000 SF house with a new 95% efficient furnace with great insulation the answer is much different than heating a late 1960's house with electricity (no insulation and a VERY expensive way to heat in the northeast). The first case is ~$200 a month and the second case could be $1000 a month.

Water is generally pretty cheap. Most houses are probably about $30 a month for water. (I lived in upstate and spent about $10 a month for a 2500 sf house for water).

Good luck!

Long Island has some of the highest utilty costs in the US. Depending upon what type of heat you have, (Oil or Gas) and the size of you house, heating costs can run as high as $1000 a month.

Not possible to answer your question. There are FAR too many variables. The size of the house, type of heating, age of heating system, number of occupants, amount of insulation, utility rates, yadda, yadda all come into play.
