There could be a couple factors at play here. Are 100% sure nothing else is also using the bandwidth? 2. The site you are downloading from may be a bit loaded at the moment. So you won't see your full download speed available.

The 30KB you are claiming the speed is at would be roughly 240Kbps or 0.234 Mbps

You should be seeing between 154KBps and 192KBps on a regular 1.5Mbps connection if no other computer or program is also using the connection

Go to dslreports.com or speakeasy.net/speedtest and run a speed test to find out what your connection is really rated at.

You should see a max of 345KB or so on a good server (a website should have adequate equipment to handle being a commercial site!), 30KB sucks, try a different website to download from! For example, I can download OpenOffice from openoffice.org at 341KB/S on this Acer Laptop, that is VERY good!:) (and I am using a Wi-Fi USB adapter via my home based wireless G router!)

Keep in mind:

" What affects my connection speed?

When you connect to the Internet using ***** High Speed Internet, the speeds that you will experience will vary based on a variety of factors, including the following:

Distance of your telephone line from a ***** Central Office
Condition of telephone wiring inside and outside your location
Computer configuration
Network or Internet congestion
Server and router speeds of the Web sites you access
Other factors"

30KB is usually a good speed for download. Remember, you may have a fast internet connection, but if the website/server supplying the file you are downloading is slow, then how much/fast you can download will be slowed down too.

Different files from different websites will download and different speeds.

If you are worried that your internet bandwidth is providing the speeds it is supposed to, then check your internet speed using a website like this:

Good luck!

It's not only your download speed...but it also depends on what the site's bandwidth is and how fast they'll let you download. Like that site probably set it so that one download can only be 30Kbps.

But if you want to check that your internet is as fast as it should be I suggest you take a speed test. Like: www.speedtest.net/

when you download the speed of the upload from that "site" is hosting is how much download speed you get to download.
the bandwidth is how many MB or GB you can download and upload in 1 sec

I very much doubt your bandwidth is 1.5MB - if it was, it'd be a world record! 1.5Mb would be more like it. There are eight bits to a byte, so 30KB/s is pretty good.

totally depends on may factors - people used site download
your system - chip speed - what else your comp is doing-
is it bit torrent etc etc

for that bandwidth you may go up to about 110 kbs or bit more- or 0.2 just depends
