If you absolutely insist on 7 continents the answer has been given correctly.
Know this: 7 is only one of several possible numbers, each equally valid, for the number of continents. Depending on your definition it is perfectly possible to speak of between 3 and 7 continents.
1. Australia has only been universally accepted as a continent since the end of world war II. Counting Australia as an island, you can have:
a. The Americas (they are a continuous land mass)
b. Eurasia/Africa: Europe, Asia, and Africa are likewise one
connected land mass
c. Antarctica.
For 4 continents either continue to exclude Australia and add Africa, or Leave Africa as part of the old world land mass, and add Australia.
Again you can make a convincing case for from 3 to 7 continents. I suspect teachers choose 7 because larger numbers require more work for their students to memorize. Or perhaps I'm being cynical. More continents do allow more specificity when talking about places or events.

the 7 continents of the world are the following:
1. North America - North America consists of three territories: Canada, The United States, and Mexico. The United States consists of 50 states with the capital located in Washington D.C
2. South America - South America is mostly located in the Southern Hemisphere. It is bordered by the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans. South America is populated by 342,000,000 people and consists of 12 countries.
3. Asia -Asia is in the Northern Hemisphere and is attached to Europe. The highest point, Mt. Everest at 29,028 feet, is in Tibet and Nepal, which are located in Asia. The lowest point is the Dead Sea at 1341 feet below sea level. Asia has the largest population of any other continent and has 47 countries.
4. Australia - Australia, also known as “the land down under,” is an island located in the Southern Hemisphere. Because it is located below the equator, winter in Australia is during June, July, and August, the opposite. Its capital is Sydney. Australia is home to about 31,000,000 people and has 14 countries
5. Africa - Africa’s land mass crosses the equator and is bordered by the Atlantic and Indian Oceans. Its highest point is Mt. Kilimanjaro at 19,340 feet and its lowest point is Lake Assal at 512 feet below sea level. It is home to about 778,000,000 people and consists of 53 countries, the most of any continent.
6. Antarctica - Antarctica is the only continent with a population of zero. With such cold and harsh weather conditions, it is unable to provide a home to human beings. The coldest temperature ever recorded was in Antarctica on July 21, 1983 when it reached -129 degrees Fahrenheit!
7. Europe - Europe is located in the Northern Hemisphere and is attached to Asia. This continent is sometimes referred to as “Eurasia” since it is one land mass. Europe has a population of about 342,000,000 people and is made up of 43 countries.
