Could it be double standards ?????
Are we going to start handicapping the top teams? so that it will be "fair" to the other teams? ....
hey lets spot the other team points, so they feel better.... there goes the competition that sports is all about...
How about, we disband all the teams at the end of each season... then each team draws a name, one at a time.. and that's who you get to play with, like in elementary school.. would that suffice? ..
It's competitive sports.. if your team can't cut it, then they'd better figure out what they are doing wrong, and fix the problem.

Because nobody cares about the Colts and the Patriots aren't afraid to play them. (LOL)
Seriously though, the Patriots were ahead 38-0 in the 3rd quarter. And the Colts were up something like 24-7 in the 3rd quarter. Ddi people really expect the Pats & Colts to start "taking the knee" at for the rest of the game so that millionaire players on opposing teams don't get their ego's bruised. ???

I agree. I don't understand, I thought football was a game and in a game you want to score lots of points. So what if they ran up the score isn't that the point. Wether it be the patriots or colts or whoever. People are more upset with the Pats because they are killing everyone and not letting any one stay close. But what people don't understand is they are trying to prove to everyone , including themselves, that they don't need to cheat to win. But people will keep using that as the excuse for their team loosing and I'm sure when the Pats beat the colts next week and they run up the score again, noone will say its because the Pats are the better team, They will say its because they cheat and are classeless.
People don't like the Pats because they win and they are tired their team loosing, horribly, to them. If it were the other way around and their team was winning and running up the score they would be happy about it.
The Pats are a great team and possibly the best and I just wish people would get over it.
also I'm sure I will get lots of thumbdown for this but that just shows how immature people really are. and by the way I really liked your question and I gave you a star. Have a good day

There is no such thing as running up the score when you haven't even scored 40 points. Frank Reich put up 35 points in the fourth quarter of an NFL playoff game to pull off an upset, so I hardly think a 24 point game qualifies. Running up the score would be more along the lines of "going for it on 4th down with half a quarter left and a 38 point lead". I don't know any pro teams that would do that kind of classless things...oh wait.

Because they didn't. Manning had a shaky start and it was a close game until halftime. After two touchdowns to take a lead the Colts just kept the ball in the middle and gave Jim Sorgi his moment.

This is Professional sports. If a team can't cut it then the management needs to be looked at. As far as disbanding, you see when support starts to fail for a team, they often re-locate to another city

I think its all fair until you get to the 4th quarter. The COlts scored 7 points in the 4th quarter to go up 31-7 and then simply ran the ball. The Patriots were already up 38-0 going into the 4th quarter and kept throwing the ball deep.
Apples and oranges. Colts are classy, Patroits are not. I should say Dungy is Classy and Belicek is NOT. I don't put this on the players. The players simply run the plays that are called. This falls on the head coach. He's not making a lot of friends in this league.

They weren't up 45-0 in the 4th quarter before they pulled their starters.
Huge leads allow teams to try new plays and let your backups and younger players in the game. Injuries happen and you will be happy when the backup can just step right in.

The Colts did not run up the score. Did you watch the game? It was close until the 4th quarter, and then Manning was out of the game. You didn't see him throwing for fake spike TD's when ahead by 4-5 TD's, going for it on fourth down, etc. You must be a nutty Pats appologist! All they are going for is records. It's shameless, disgusting, and unsportsmanlike. Add that to the cheating, and you have yourself a pretty sorry state of affairs there in New England.

31-7 is not running up the score. the most points ever scored in a 4th quarter is 34, by the lions this season. a 24 point lead is comfortable but not insurmountable. look at the play by play on espn.com. indy called almost all running plays in the 4th quarter. they had a 6:30 drive. they didnt stop playing, but they didnt try to throw it deep or score. they jsut ran the ball and what happened happened.

How about if the other team doesent like getting beat by 40 plus, they try and stop them instead of complaining. Maybe saying hey we got beat, but no the ego requires it to be the other guys fault..
