Kimberly was closest, but clearly this is NOT a poem. It is simply an ACROSTIC.

As for the other (incorrect) answers

-- "mnemonic" refers to a memory device, i.e., a tool or trick for remembering something. Sure, acrostics are commonly used for mnemonics but they are NOT all mnemonics, nor are all mnemonics of this sort (not by a long shot).

-- "acronym" is when a "word" is formed from the initial letters of an expression

The correct word is mnemonic

A mnemonic is a memory aid that generally serves an educational purpose. They are mostly verbal, e.g a word, each of whose letters help the user to remember the first letters of items in a list. However, there are also other types of mnemonics, such as visual mnemonics. Mnemonics rely on associations between something that is easy to remember, and something that is harder to remember. Sometimes mnemonics are chosen to directly relate to the target information, and othertimes they are arbitrary.

Such as HOMES for remembering the Great Lakes.

It is an acrostic. An acrostic is word/s formed in letters of another word like what you said. The answer before me is also right.
