I would say you'd be wrong. Hitler's ideal was to have the German people come to dominate the earth after a few generations. That is why he started exterminating those he viewed as lesser (Jews, Poles, Slavs, cripples, etc); and at the same time he was promoting Germans to have more Germans.

I think that he felt it was his charge to do this; and spread the Germans out, giving them breathing room, etc. Can't really say it was his personal desire to become ruler of the world- if it was, he would likely not to have wasted so much time & effort trying to exterminate so many useful people.

Many theorists claim that Adolf Hitler was severely abused by his parents. Some documents claim that Hitler was sometimes hit with a whip more that 200 times a day. I believe that he just felt that by oppressing a certain ethnic/religious group he felt he had a certain amount of control (something he never had as a child).

By the way: Did you know that Hitler wanted to become a priest?

Not really, he wanted to unite all the German peoples, and wanted to create space for the master race to expand and grow. At the same time he decided that the Slavs, and Jews, who he blamed for moral decay and communism, should be exterminated and their lands opened up for his master race. He undoubtedly wanted to be undisputed master of Europe, but I don't think he had a personal ambition to conquer the world.

Sadly I think Mein Kampf may be the best source for the answer to this question.

It is perhaps more apt to say that Der Fuhrer wanted to remake the world into a Nordic Germanic type world such as existed in literature and fiction. We all have daydreams, he tried to implement his.

Hitler was not the handsome man of Germany, he was an idiot and ugly and he knew it. He laid down with women of the night and used his power to obtain that. He gained disease and it slowly began to kill him and he blamed the Jews for it.
So one day, he decides to get back at them by trying to destroy the entire Jewish race in Poland and Germany and used his political power to to claim its purpose when in fact it was he that was destroyed by the Jews.

I think "29" put it most succinctly.
He didn't want to rule the World. He actually knew this was impossible - at least in his lifetime.
Read Mein Kampf - THAT'S what he wanted - as perverted as it is.

"If you wish the sympathy of broad masses then you must tell them the crudest and most stupid things." ---Adolf Hitler.
I think he wanted to control the media.
