i'm not asking for myself because i have VA...i just think a better educated population is more likely to come up with nonviolent solutions to the problems we face today

Of course we would be. College should be free. It's become a necessity. In fact, it seems required now to have advanced degrees. We need to secure our borders and start working smarter. Other countries are securing their borders. We need to get corporate money out of our government. Really, it has no place there at all. Corporations have very little accountability to people. We need to hold our politicians accountable to the people it serves (us). We need to look more at the future. We need to connect to each other. All of this technology and we have become separated. We can do better. This is America. We used to stand for something. What has happened to us? How can we begin again to stand for something? That is power.
We already are paying college tuition for non citizens.
Not only that but we have people actively recruiting them.
That has got to stop. People who are from here and who live here should be given the #1 priority. It makes no sense to continue as we are. I don't understand it.
The war in Iraq continues to cost billions. We've spent $500 billion. What have we gotten? Nothing. It's a terrible investment. It hasn't been good for anyone but the contractors and big business. Those are the ones profiting at the future's expense.

No. That does not reflect our values and would be harmful to the ruling elite. What we need is less education and more prisons. Besides, look at the president. What good did all that education do him? The poor guy can't speak English any better than most immigrants.
Education is corrosive to society. It causes people to think critically, which leads to intelligent questions, which leads to challenging authority. That is too disruptive. We need to stop pestering our leaders with such pointless and silly issues as accountability, etc. Besides, isn't ignorance supposed to be bliss?

The problem is that the only students who end up with lower tuition are those that can't speak English, were greased through high school and have little chance of actually graduating. To make up the short fall, the best students will end up with higher tuition and or be pushed out by the affirmative action victims.
It always makes me laugh when those who favor lower prices never have a plan to pay for it.
You don't really think that a lower price is actually going to mean a lower cost do you?
Nixon tried it. He froze wages and prices. He almost ended up in jail.

As, umm, nice as that seems, I don't really see how you can just not have college tuition. Don't get me wrong, I'm still paying off my tuition and would like it to be dropped but colleges have to get paid somehow. Maybe instead of bombs they could drop chicken sandwiches or something.

I do believe college tuition is too high. I think it is ridiculous for a graduate to have to spend half of his working life paying back school loans. College is as necessary now as a high school education was 30 years ago. I think tuition should be free.
However, One thing has nothing to do the other. Sorry but we need to finish the job in Iraq.

why on Gods green earth would you want to pay for college for non us citizens when so many good kids here can't go to college due to the cost
