Not necessarily. She may have debts. She may leave it all to the Hare Krishnas. She might donate it all to the church. She may blow it in Vegas.
You know what? She's 89 years old and it's hers to do with as she will.
Live as if you won't get it, and then if you do...put it away and let interest build on it.

400K could be a security blanket to your grandmother. Most elderly were raised with little and do not need extravagance. You should feel lucky that she saved that, possibly for you. But you should feel assumed hoping and wondering if you are going to get some.
You should look at how you treated her before you knew she had money, and if you are thinking or doing something different now you know she has money, then shame on you do not deserve it.

Talk to her about it for what reason??? Do you think she should be investing it or putting it into a CD or something? It's really none of your business. If she has a Will then it will go to whomever she wants after she passes. If she doesn't have one then it will be evenly distributed among her children. Unless your mom wants to give you some of her share then you won't be getting any.

So what if she has $400K? It's her money and she can spend it (or not spend it) anyway she sees fit. You should be grateful that your gram has money to live off of when som many seniors don't.
I'm guessing that if you all just found out that she has this money that you're not really involved in her life. So I hope she leaves it all to charity.

Older people are like that. They hord money so they will never be w/o anything. She grew up during the depression when she didn't have anything so that is her thinking now. Save now because you never know when you wno't have anything. By the way, if you are concerned about whether you will be getting your cut that is very greedy of you. It's not your money!

She should have gotten an annuity already. too bad that she didnt use her money wisely. She could have kept all of the 400 and you could have lived very happily off of the interest alone.
You might want to discuss ProdcutGroupFinancial to your mother www.productgroupfinancial.com
They have investment plans by invitation only that are available only to those who have over 50k to invest.
Product group financial is amazing when it comes to their investment plans.

Why does your mother or anyone else feel the need to talk to her about it? If I were grandma, I'd be extremely offended by that and I'd be writing some people out of my will.

Leave her money alone! It's hers! She might live to be 109 and she'll need that money for her care. You never know. She has planned well for her retirement, I suggest you and your mother do the same. Leave granny out of it!

Damn, don't be so greedy. Only your grandmother knows if you are getting any. You may not get a thing, and there is nothing you can do about it.
