My social studies teacher just told the class that Filipinos suck. She thinks China is better even though its overpopulated. She even told us that at least China plants their own rice. (She said that the Filipinos depend on the rice products of Vietnam.) I dont even think its true. What would you feel? By the way shes a Filipino, I cant believe she would say that.

For the record, she's wrong! Unfortunately, teachers have been known to err sometimes.

However, next time she pulls another faux pas like that, be ready to do the following:

1. demand that she shows the class her source
and
2. subject her to breathalyzer test!

you know what, next time you have your class, be ready with a tape recorder, you can sue your teacher for insulting you. If you're in the phils, she may lose her career and end up as rice farmer...

if you're abroad and studying in an international school, you can file a complaints against her to the school administrator so to have disciplinary action against her...

Tell her she might got a wrong informations... we also plant our own rice but the problem is that, the cost of production is far much higher than buying from abroad. By the way, it is the filipinos who taught the Thai's on how to cultivate good rice.

She might have been misinformed. You can tell her that the information she just shared is incorrect and maybe the whole class can discuss about it.

Teachers are human beings as well, they also make mistakes. So if this happens, point out the mistake immediately so the teacher will know. Of course, be careful in your tone of voice because some teachers are sensitive and might take it against you if you call his/her attention about it. Still express respect and show that you just want to clarify some things mentioned in class before.

FIRST There are a lot of things wrong in the Philippine education system. I know some some outstandingly FINE Pinoy teachers but I also know some horror stories. I was superintendent of a local private high school. I am putting 32 students through various levels of school.

A teacher borrows money and high dollar cameras from students and does not pay it back

A teacher who tries to seduce his students in exchange for good grades

A teacher who was fired fo making a student pregnant.

Teacher who uses students as personal slaves washing his car and running errands

The list goes on.....there is no place to complain.....no one maintaining the standards......no legal recourse
No place where a student can complain without destroying themselves. I wrote and published a teaching Code of Ethics......but nobody cares.

For me one of the most insideous crimes is the "teacher" (?) who destroys a students pride and confidence....preaches their own personal bias and ugliness from the platform. The damage they do is more subtle.....more secret.....more damaging

Your teacher should not be allowed to destroy young minds......not just because she is WRONG......but because her ugly prejudice has no business being vomitted on young minds.

There are things wrong with the Philippines.....just like there are things wrong with EVERY country....There are also a lot of things great and good about this country

The island of ****** only produces 17% of their own rice. They must import their rice from outside the Philippines. Why? Because we do not have the land that will grow rice. That is a fact that has no bearing on the farming ability of the Philippines but simple geography. By the way her hero China imports rice from Korea.

Your teacher needs to get some perspective and knowledge. Her focus should be on BUILDING your pride and self confidence not destroying it with meaningless bias half truths.

Your Social Studies teacher "SUCKS"

BTW....It is the Philippines that started the "green revolution" The philippines developed new strains of fast growing rice that tripled the ability of countries across Asia to feed their starving masses. Where is your teacher on telling you the great accomplishments of the Philippine people

You know about Sir Alexander Flemming who won world fame for discovering Penicillin.....but what about the Pinoy scientist from Iloilo who discovered an even MORE effective new age medicine that has save billions of lives around the world.....bet you do not even know his name......and you can blame your myopic teacher for that failure. Instead of focusing on the positives she concentrates on the negatives.

You could tell your ignorant social studies teacher to go to Nueva Ecija in the Philippines and ask her how huge are the rice fields in there..... If Nueva Ecija was not enough for her then she could also check Isabela, Philippines .... Then if she thinks that China is better, then tell her to shout "Long live Mao!" everyday.

She has a point. Well, partly.
Where do you think the most delicious chocolates are made?
You're right, in Switzerland yet they cant grow cocoa there because of the climate! How is this possible?!

Sure enough, it hurts but, I would say take it as a challenge!!!

Prove her wrong. You see, it doesn't matter who said it. What matters is how we ANSWER it!!!

Let us not lose hope! We have a choice! We can make a difference!!!

I would feel she has an inside track on the information used to form the opinion that I, as a foreigner, do not have.
I have heard that the majority of the money in the Phils comes from workers in other nations sending money back to their families. That has to count for something.

I can't believe that she said that! Especially considering that she's a Filipina too...

First of all, it is so rude to compare the Philippines, which is a thrid-world developing country, to a country that is obviously much richer. And we do *too* grow our own rice!

I think that her actions are disgraceful, and I apologize on her behalf. She's the type that gives us Filipinos a bad name.

Ipatikim mo sa kanya ang pambansang kamao! LOL!! XD

Joke! x3

Honestly, I'm surprised your teacher hasn't landed herself in trouble for saying something like that. You should report her or at least inform a higher school administrator. The last thing we want is the colonial mentality in our children's educators.

Gather other bothered students and when you are ready, everyone complain to the principal as a group, preferably accompanied by your parents. I think that should help put things in order.
