And I'm sure this will change before he arrives...
but we're at:

Solomon David
Henry Alexander
Garrett Lee

Which is best?

We're a Christian family, and plan to raise him that way. We do not anticipate any problems with this. Many children are named Matthew, John, David, Joseph. Where do you think those names come from? I just don't want all the other kids on the playground to share a name with my child.

My favorites in this order:

1- Soloman David: A great name, very strong. Able to shorten if wanted but with a more common middle name but a not too out there unique first name.

2- Garrett Lee: A good solid name that has stood the test of time. Not trendy but easy to spell and pronounce. A very simple and common middle name that flows smoothly.

3- Henry Alexander: I am not as fond of this name. Henry is getting popular and Alexander is very very trendy. A nice name though nonetheless.

I think that your son will have a great strong name regardless of what you choose.

Congrats!!

Solomon and Henry are wonderful!

Solomon is a great, underused Biblical choice, and with all the little Jacobs, Noahs and Jadons out there, I seriously doubt anyone would bat an eye (I haven't yet read the other replies, but judging from your additional comments someone found this an odd choice?). It really isn't. And the shortening Sol is always a simple, "modern" option should he ever want one. Seriously a non-issue. :)

Henry is equally attractive, and again, no one should find this classic an odd or "old" choice given it's current popularity. In the top 100 most common choices ... and rising! Nothing to worry about in terms of overuse, in my opinion -- being a timeless classic and all ;) -- but certainly popular enough that no one should find it an unexpected or unusual choice.

I slightly prefer the combos switched, however. I love the simplicity of Henry David. Just a stunning name in full. Actually, Solomon David is equally lovely, so perhaps I'm just avoiding Alexander here. LOL

Garrett is fine, but I don't find it quite as intriguing as your first two options. Possibly because it WAS quite common for a while there -- top 100 throughout the 90s -- and is only now petering out. So it could end up seeming a bit dated, and doesn't quite have the same timeless feel of Solomon or Henry, if you follow. ;)

Great names all around, however. Loved the list!

I like Henry Alexander the best of these choices. It's old-fashioned, but still masculine and modern sounding. I would make sure your last name isn't something that will make his initials spell something, like HAT, HAM, HAG, HAW, or HAY.

Garrett Lee is my second favorite. It's unusual, but still classic.

Solomon David is my least favorite. It's a bit too unusual for my taste, and it does come across as very heavy handedly from the Bible. It isn't a bad thing, but some people would balk at that. Plus, I would be concerned that people wouldn't know how to spell or say Solomon.
