Sound most likely to be a problem with the washing machine but you can do a few check before you call the washing machine man out!
Test To Your Electrics

firstly on your trip, there is probable a test button, press it does the trip trip? it should do!
if ok
1. unplug your washing machine (DO NOT JUST TURN OFF)
2. plug in kettle and boil some water
3. well boiling the water turn on your vac cleaner on and off this will simulate the sort of load your washing machine will draw and thus if there is a problem with your trip it will trip!

I suspect the above will all be ok if so it a problem with your machine if your diy inclined UNPLUG remove top cover you should now be able to see the drive motor get a hair dryier and blow cold air all round the back of the motor sometime you get a build up of carbon from the brushes witch causes a problem
another problem that are simple to fix is leaking pipe check for drip on floor

the most common problem with washing machines though is the heating element fail this is located (usually) under the drum at the front.

If the machine old i would get a new one as repairs can be expensive!! and new machines are not mega money these days!

good luck

There might be a leak or drip onto the pump therefore tripping the earth leakage. The pump works when the washing machine spins.

Sounds like a problem with the motor in the machine, leaks to earth when ramps up to high speed. If you have an analogue timer these are also susceptible to developing faults, call an appliance repair man

its the machine ..there may be nothing wrong with it but trip switches are very sensitive ..try plugging in to an extension lead and try another socket

Sounds like your washer uses more electicity than you breaker will handle. The surge in power when your washer goes to fast blows the circuit. Check your washer or put some of the other things on that circuit to a new one.

sounds to me like your washer isn't on a dedicated circuit and at full spin cycle it draws too many amps on shared circuit. isolate and consult professional before you catch something on fire
