Around 90% here on GWS anyway...

Does that confirm my theory that theres nothing much to study at all about women?

What else would we talk about? Shoes? Women's Studies was designed for exploring the history and perspectives of women, and there wouldn't be many of those without feminism.

Because feminism is supposedly the bright & shining beacon that lifts women up out of the clutching hands of "the patriarchy."

Feminists speak about "breaking the glass ceiling" & fighting for their rights (which they already have) & all of the things that make an impressionable college-aged woman feel great about the movement.

BUT, unfortunately feminism is a trojan horse these days. Women's studies programs focus on implanting the "woman = victim, man = violent oppressor" in the minds of our young women.

This benefits no one.

Rather than celebrate the accomplishments of women & teach about respecting BOTH sexes due to the fact we will be working along side each other for the rest of our lives... & that dividing the sexes is a step towards chaos... & giving women a positive goal oriented approach to career/family/relationships...

The women's studies curriculums go for the DV/rape hysteria, men are oppressing us, you are a victim anywhere, anytime, for any reason, & men never are... sort of BS.

It's tragic, actually.

Well, I'm male, and I get the impression just from the study area's name, "Women's Studies" that it's demeaning. I don't have a clue about whether it's filled with feminist theory or anything, but knitting, doing the washing, cleaning and raising the children came to mind. It sounds suspicious to me.

If it really is 90% about feminism, who cares? If women like it and benefit from it in some way, why bother getting worked up about it?

If you want Men's Studies, start a campaign to get it happening. Beer Drinking 101, Reckless Driving 101, Macho Posturing 101, choose elective: Beatin' yo' b t ch 101, Not Having a Clue About Women 101, Pub Brawls 101 and Fast Car as Compensation for Small Part of Anatomy 101.

Alright, just kidding. ;-)

Edit: Oh c'mon everyone, lighten up a little! Does this question really deserve a very thoughtful response?

Well, start gathering up all your testosterone filled buddies and get to joining the party. Sometimes the flow of estrogen can be a bit much for even me, a woman. I think my period is now in sinc with the thousand other females on here and I definitely feel a hot flash coming on!

I agree completely and utterly and people should put a stop to such sexism

[Tracy] "... the category is here so pathetic, obsessed misogynists can visit daily to get out that aggression that has built up in them since their high school prom date stood them up" - So how pathetic and misandrist is that kind of comment! She will never understand men but she sure has the weirdest imagination.

What should "women's studies" be about? Auto mechanics? Meteorology? Sustainable soil usage?

Actually, the category is here so pathetic, obsessed misogynists can visit daily to get out that aggression that has built up in them since their high school prom date stood them up. It's cheaper than therapy, and reminds us feminists why we're feminists.

Women studies is about studying themselves because they aren't interested in anything else. Frankly they are self absorbed enough as it is.

'itisfutile' - well deduced!!! 100% accurate.

It would seem, according to women's studies students & tutors alike - only women are actually worth studying... positively at least. Men aren't worth a mention, lest it be about how we're to blame for x, y and usually z too.

Gender = 50% men 50% women
Womens Studies = 100% women

So thats 75% women all up and 25% men

That would be why you are seeing a high number.

But over all it is 100% sexist

Its all about feminism because its all about the need for these women to vent as they dont have a man at home to B t ch at.
