Where did it come from. Is there a fact basis . Is this fiction, please?

There is no such thing. It was suggested once that the American continents might go to something called the AMERO, the American equivalant to the European Euro, but no time soon would you see that happen because the U.S. dollar would support far too many weeker currencies unlike in the EU where there were multiply nations with somewhat strong currency to start the process.

Europe is really doing nothing more than the states did 200 years ago. Every state in the U.S. had it's own state currency and they suggested going to a federal currency to compet with other nations. many states didn't like the idea because some states didn't want to bare the burden of the poorer states. But everything worked oput in the end. EU is slowly evolving in simular ways as the U.S. did.
