At this point the answer may be yes. At 63 years old he is playing better than ever. He is touring a lot and playing really excellently live. He recently tore the house down at the crossroads guitar festival. Jeff was one of the first people Jimi looked up on his move to England in the 60s. He's not for the FM lite crowd or the pop crowd. His music is a challenge. If you are young and haven't heard of him you are forgiven. Sort of. Check him out at crossroads on youtube.

No. Who's Jeff Beck? And what does this have to do with wrestling?

It's very appropriate that this question is under wrestling, after than politics and religion, this question will REALLY liven a party up! I think the best ever is Al DiMeola, but almost nothing is more along the lines of "beauty is in the eye of the beholder."
Besides, Clapton is still GOD.

One of. NO doubt, but Clapton?
There are some other contenders too. Like Page, Satriani,Vai so many that stood on those four sets of shoulders that all started out together.
They asked Hendrix who would take his place, and he said watch that Billy Gibbons from Texas. Good bet. Santana? No not the best.
