Their has always been a protest of some sort. The marching in public started with the Temperance Movement(1830-1840) run by the Women's Christian Temperance Union , then the marching moved into Woman Suffrage Movement (1872-1920). The first march of the temperance movement in New York city drew a crowed of some 170,000 people and later the women's suffrage movement drew an estimated 182,000 to one of their marches.
By today's standard the anti war movement is a small march with its 1,500 to 4,000 participant's. But it seems to get a lot of positive coverage in the media. So I'm not sure were you come up with that's it Anti American? In my reading I have not found one new organization that has called it Anti American or even hinted that its anti-patriotic.

Peace protests have been considered unpatriotic throughout American history. Since World War I, peace protesters have been called Communists, cowards, and traitors, while all they have really tried to do is save the lives of young people and the suffering of their families. History has shown that war is insane, and that those who profit by it are unpatriotic - especially when it's an "optional" war not fought in self-defense.

Peace can only come with higher military strength and conquering our enemies. If you don't think we have enemies to worry about you are sadly mistaken. Every Islamo-Fascist in this world has openly and unabashedly declared they want us dead. Wiped off the planet. And brother, there are millions upon millions of those bastards out there.
Here's a simple question for you. Why aren't these terrorist here in the USA already? Think about this for a little bit.
Because our fighting men and women are kicking their @$$&$ and won't let them come over. General Patreous has turned things around for us and now we are top dog!
So here is another question. What do you think will happen if we just pack up and leave?
By now you should have guessed "If we don't fight them over there, we'll have to fight them over here!"
Being a piecenick is not going to save your @$$ from a bunch of blood thirsty wild terrorist.
We need numbers, strength, patriots, not a bunch of candy @$$&$ afraid to do what is necessary for their country.
God Bless America

i know it doesn't look like it...but we are now the definition of a Police State. Patriot Acts, and the main peice of legislature that can turn protestors into terrorists in the eyes of the government is: The Homegrown Terrorism Prevention Act of 2007. HR 1955. Besides the technicalities in law, I think the public perception is one that terrorists could be anyone, and that constitutionality is secondary to (perceived) security, Reguardless if the threat is real or not.

They always have been considered anti-patriotic. There has never been a time when they were considered anything other than harmful to country and cause.

It is the tactic used by whoever is responsible for creating an unpopular war to try and keep opposition from voicing their opinions. In any debate, if you don't have a defensible position, then you belittle your opposition, and/or try to bully them.

I believe that the enemy is watching us. they see our country divided on this issue. Which helps them in recruiting and gaining monetary help to fight us. I dont think that peace demonstrations are unpatriotic, although some of it is defineitly crossing the line
