Atheism can exist anywhere.
Feminism is more likely to be able to thrive in a free country (unless, of course, a communist government wants feminism the thing everyone believes in).
If you believe that girls and women shouldn't be respected and valued as human beings and live in a country where feminism thrives, then I guess you're lost. Then again, if that's what you believe I think you were lost long before now.
With a strict form of government (in other words oppression) nobody is ever free. If you want to live where everybody is expected to think the same way and behave in a way that the government believes is acceptable then what you want isn't freedom. Its sameness and compliance with the "strict" government.
In a democracy, just because people are free to think and act differently from the way you think they should, it doesn't mean you're lost. It just means people are free to be individuals.

Athieism and Feminism are both gaining popularity because of the advances in science and technology over the last few centuries.
athieism for the most obvious reasons, we now understand the natural world so much better.
feminism because of a more level economic playing field.
both can thrive in the right communist environment and no we are far from lost. i can think of no better place to be in this day and age.

I don't see feminism "gaining popularity" myself.
I think that atheism slowly is however - and thank God for that! It is, I understand, problematic for an American to be openly atheistic. I think the internet has helped. Previously, American atheists would have felt isolated, I'm sure (no doubt still do to a large extent) - forced to keep their lack of belief quiet. The internet has provided an avenue for atheists to have a voice - converse with other atheists, debate with theists. So there is increased recognition, but I think the internet is also creating more atheists. There are many good atheist websites and I'm sure that many people who have questioned their faith and been open to argument have been convinced.
So yes, I think because of the easier access to information, and, more broadly, the increasing standards of education atheism is on the (slow) rise. This assumes that the educated are more likely to be atheists (which they are). It also mischievously suggests that atheism is correct (which it is).

Democracy may be difficult, and it's annoying when people you don't like have a chance to speak. But would you like to stand in line for hours to buy a tub of margarine? How about being unable to make a better wage than your co-workers, even if you're more productive? Either stick with this or go to China.

In Marxist societies, atheism was actively encouraged. And, while the disregard for EVERYONE'S basic human rights is a common feature of Marxist countries, women were encouraged as scientists, engineers, scholars, etc.

Feminism is declining, atheists are simply being recognised.
Communists only allow people to be communists.
Strict governments stifle freedom.
Have a nice day.
