The Yankees have swept eight times: 1927 (Pirates), 1928 (Cardinals), 1932 (Cubs) (these three were consecutive WS appearances for the team), 1938 (Cubs again), 1939 (Reds), 1950 (Phillies), 1998 (Padres), and 1999 (Braves).

They've also BEEN swept three times -- 1922 (Giants; sort of; there was one tie), 1963 (Dodgers), and 1976 (Reds).

So the Yankees have been involved in a lot of them.

Other multiple sweepers:

Reds twice -- 1976 (Yankees) and 1990 (Athletics). This is an active WS winning streak that stretches back to 1975 Game 7.

Giants twice -- 1922 (Yankees, 4-0-1) and 1954 (Indians).

Red Sox twice -- 2004 (Cardinals) and 2007 (Rockies).

The other WS sweeps belong, one each, to the Braves, Dodgers, Orioles, Athletics, and Cubs (4-0-1 in 1907 over the Tigers).

I'm hoping the Cubs earn a chance soon.
