hi, im 33 weeks and i think i've had braxton hicks, they dont hurt but feel really wierd, ur whole tummy goes really hard for about a minute or so then it relaxes again, but there all over the place, u could get three in five minutes, then 1 in an hour, but they dont seem to last very long, it does make it uncomfy to walk tho, i've been shopping and its happened, had to sit down till it passed. really wierd. When i get them they are in my front. Think u could get them with any pregnancy, my mum only had them with her first and last pregnancies. i hope this helps. good luck

I noticed my braxton hicks A LOT more with my second pregnancy than with my first. I felt them all in the front and they were like proper contractions and started about 2 mths before I was due (about 32 wks). They used to start nearly every 2nd night at about 9-9.30 pm and lasted for about half an hour. A couple of times I really thought I might be going into very quick labour they were that bad. Funny thing was though on the day I went into labour properly it happened at 9.30pm as usual but this time I knew for sure it was the real thing.

I don't think it would be abnormal to feel them in your back but I think your more likely to feel braxton hicks in the front as a painful tightening of the stomach and uterus. If its in the back it might be actual labour.

Some women don't feel them at all so don't be concerned if you don't

best of luck

I'm over due now with my second child and i never had any braxton hicks with my first at all! but this pregnancy is so different I've had really strong braxton hicks since about 6 1/2 months they are in front and back for me! but you can get them both front and back separately as my friend had that with her second! it really is true every pregnancy is so different i never believed that till now!!! good luck xxx

Braxton-Hicks may feel like someone is reaching out and squeezing one or two of your belly muscles for about 30 seconds. Or they might feel like everyone else described them - whole stomach getting very hard, very quickly. It's a good thing... it means the baby's growing and that your body is starting to practice pushing him/her out. As long as your BH are over inside a minute, I wouldn't think it's anything to worry about.
