I'm sad to say - yes I saw the first episodes in 1960 - can't remember if I saw the very first one ( because they've repeated that episode a few times since) but certainly in the first week - I still watch it regularly now - the only soap worth watching - humour - drama - humour - good acting -humour fair scriptwriting - oh and did I say humour. Yes - I'm very sad I know - but maybe not as sad as William Roache who's still on the programme.

yes, I've watched most episodes of Coronation Street. I like watching most soaps -sort of escapism. my favourite was Brookside and i never miss an episode of Home and away.
The 3 x ladies, Jadore7 mentioned were Martha Longhurst, Minnie Caldwell(with Bobby the cat ) and Ena Sharples

Many moons ago when I still lived in England - I watched it with my parents. My Grandmother was from Birmingham and she liked it too! But I have lived in the USA since 1963 - and as it has not been on BBCAmerica - I doubt I will see any more episodes! Also I think that for most Americans - the accents would be hard to understand!

That's a subjective question.
I recall it starting in the early 60's and probably watched early episodes as a child, as I grew up I was aware it was on and again watched episodes, I could certainly name or recall major cast members from any decade. I still occasionally watch episodes, but I doubt anybody will have seen them all continuously from commencement, if that is what you meant

no, but watched the coronation many years ago on one of the only tv's in town. The English didn't know it, but it was held in a snow storm.

I remember Coronation Street when it was in black n white lol, Ena Sharples, Minnie Caldwell, sat in the snug of The Rovers Return. Over the years the comedy seemed to die off and it got too serious. We used to watch all the soaps on all the channels but we've not watched them for over 8 yrs.

I can remember watching the trailers waiting for it to start.
The trailers showed three old ladies sitting in the snug at the Rovers Return.
I remember the trailer on the Sunday evening during Sunday Night at the London Palladium. It was the only night I was allowed to stay up, I loved Beat the Clock.
Question for you, do you remember the names of the three old ladies in the pub?
I will give you a clue, one of them had a cat named Bobby.

Yes, I have watched it since the start, with few exceptions. I am currently fascinated by Eileen's extreme weight loss; similarly Fizz and Rita's face lift. Will David die whilst Sarah is getting married? Ooh, the excitement just goes on and on.

I watch it most nights, but not from the early days. My mum now, she's a great fan. If I miss anything and I need a catch up I just phone her.
