I think they will be better than last year, but still not good enough.
I have the following 8 teams in the playoffs in the west (alphabetically by division)
Detroit (Central)
Calgary (Northwest)
Colorado (Northwest)
Minnesota (Northwest)
Vancouver (Northwest)
Anaheim (Pacific)
Dallas (Pacific)
San Jose (Pacific)
I think Chicago, St. Louis, and Los Angeles fight for 9th through 11th. I think Columbus and Nashville fight for 12th and 13th, and I think Edmonton and Phoenix pick up the rear.
When Mathieu Schneider comes back and Giguere is totally healthy, Anaheim will come around. Edmonton can't run on fumes and luck forever....in the end.......everything will be in it's right place.
I do think that Los Angeles look set for the future, it would be nice if they could grab a young defenceman or two in the next couple of years to aid their youth movement.

Honestly I think they miss the playoffs. Kopitar and Jack Johnson are players to watch develop as well as some of their other young players. I think if Nagy can put together a good year they look a lot better off.
I will 100% tell you their biggest problem. Mental. They have given up so many goals already on sloppy clears, not getting the puck out of the zone or playing smart hockey, its ridiculous and it always seems to cost them.
I try so hard to be a fan, but they always disappoint me. But I'm still a fan.
They have been doing awesome the last few games after a mediocre start. They got several new players who may or may not fit in well.
Realistically I think they would do well to get a frontline goaltender and maybe a frontline defenseman. I think scoring is secondary to stopping opponent scoring right now.
Definitely better than last year, but I put them at best just out of the playoffs right now. Thought they did been the wild who have been hot. I think another month will really tell a lot. And any trades may show whether they are dedicated to winning or not.

The Kings just might slip into a 7th or 8th seed in the Western Conference this year. Though they will most likely lose in the first round, getting to the playoffs is a monumental step for this franchise.

Kings are in tough. While Nasville has slipped, at least 3 other teams are improved, including St Louis, Colorado and Columbus. Kings can score but the big question mark for them is can they score enough to overcome their inconsistant goaltending. They may slip in to the 8th spot but I'm not counting on it. You as a fan of the team may have more faith.

I see them coming down to earth in a big way. They will finish about 12 in the west.
