Technically, a cyclone is any low pressure system that is rotating counterclockwise in the northern hemisphere, or clockwise in the southern hemisphere. An anticyclone is just the opposite, a high pressure area.

Tornadoes and hurricanes are specific types of cyclones, bred and driven by different atmospheric processes. Hurricanes are much larger and need vast expanses of warm water to thrive. Tornadoes occur in thunderstorms and seem most apt to form where vertical differences in wind speed and direction occur. Some hurricanes can be prolific tornado producers once they near land.

A tornado is the product of a severe thunderstorm. The exact nature of its formation is still being studied but the end result is a narrow spiral of very low pressure that touches the surface. They can cause much damage over a narrow band and can occur anywhere but the worst affected area is the central plains of USA.

A cyclone is a much larger area of low pressure. The term "cyclone" is normally reserved for intense areas of low pressure. A cyclone is called a hurricane in the Atlantic, a typhoon in China Sea, a cyclone in the Indian Ocean and a willy-willy in Australia. They require a sea surface temperature of 27C and therefore they form in late summer. They will die out over the land as their energy is taken from the ocean. They travel initially in a westerly direction and then turn to the right in the northern hemisphere and to the left in the southern hemisphere. Once they reach the cooler water they die out.

An anticyclone is an area of high pressure associated with calm and settled conditions although not necessarily good weather. Poor visibility is a frequent problem in an anticyclone.

A tornado is a very intense storm that forms out of thunderstorms. Very unpredictable. A cyclone is another name for a tornado, but also the name for a low pressure area where the air is rising. An anticyclone is a name used for a large mass of air, spinning in the opposite direction that is coming back to the surface. A hurricane is a large storm that forms over warm water where the air rises into the atmosphere.

Hurricane and cyclones are large scale revolving storms forming over warm sea surface and lasting for many days.
Tornado is a type of violent thunder storm with whirling winds and a hanging funnel type cloud which may or may not touch the ground. In size it is comparatively smaller than hurricanes or cyclones and forms over land ,lasting for a few hours only.
An anticyclone is simply a high pressure area where winds will be rotating clockwise in the Northern hemisphere.

TORNADO
an extremely destructive funnel-shaped rotating column of air that passes in a narrow path over land.

CYCLONE

a large-scale storm system with heavy rain and winds that rotate counterclockwise in the northern hemisphere and clockwise in the southern hemisphere around and toward a low-pressure center.

ANTICYCLONE

a large system of atmospheric high pressure marked by circulating winds moving clockwise from the center in the northern hemisphere and counterclockwise in the southern hemisphere, bringing generally settled weather.

HURRICANE

a severe tropical storm with torrential rain and extremely strong winds.
Hurricanes originate in areas of low pressure in equatorial regions of the Atlantic or Caribbean, and then strengthen, traveling northwest, north, or northeast.
